So after a long absence due to lack of proper equipment, bad NXT drivers, busy scheduling, art, and much much more, I can rejoice now!
I finally received my dIMU in the mail. While I haven’t had the time to do anything with it other than plug it in and boot up the NXT, I have seen the light for myself now. 😀
Now I still need to sell my HiTechnic accelerometer and gyro, though, so if any of you are interested, I think I’ll sell the for ~$40 each.
So, it turns out the HiTechnic Gyro Sensor is an analog, single-axis sensor. Argh. I bought the Accelerometer and Gyro (in that order) because I thought they were both 3-axis. *sigh* oh well….
So now back to the drawing board. I think I’ll try and sell the accelerometer+gyro for a little over half-price, and buy the Dexter Industries IMU sensor, which packs a 3-axis accelerometer and a 3-axis gyro on one board, along with a bright blue LED. All on one port! Fantastic.
So if my friend doesn’t want to buy the sensors, next I’ll try my readers, then MiBo people, then Craig’sList, then BrickLink. Ugh. I so want to get rid of these.
So, apparently, I can’t post from my phone. Sorry about that. I typed up a nice long post two weeks ago and forgot to check and make sure it went through… Oh well.
To summarize the post: School is getting 24/7 for me because of finals but after it’s over I can work on a project or two. I just got a gyroscope and some huge Exoforce wheels in the mail, and a bigger hard drive so I can install BricxCC and actually program my NXT. Also, I just got diagnosed with mental problems. 😀
Anyways, here’s where things are at now: breakfast is in 5 minutes and I gotta help so be expecting another post soon. 😀
So… I got home today, finished up some math HW, did some stuff, and made the first teaser image for the next post. 😀
The OmniCar has a unique feature, probably built by many others, but I’ve never looked to see if anyone else has done it. It certainly was a challenge doing it by myself though. A friend and I got to talking about some vehicles that can turn their back wheels as they turn their front wheels. Then we decided to try and build an NXT car like that, but since he’s in a class right now that was requiring him to have a particular build at the time, I just built it and then we talked about it a bit. We might change the design a bit.
Now, while the OmniCar doesn’t have omniwheels, it can go almost completely sideways, left or right, and it can obviously turn and drive forward/back, so it’s practically omnidirectional. For a lot less money. 😀
I’m hoping to have some programs written for it within the next month, and maybe some videos someday. I just need to get a better camera. I feel awful about the lo-quality videos I’ve made. 😦

Well, maybe not that many, but I do have eleven new pics of an old (but still the newest) robot. It’s not even done yet, since I’ve yet to add the necessary cables, but that doesn’t really make much of a difference right now.
So technically, in fact, I have 22 pictures, but I’m trying a new method of LEGO photography since my ‘studio’ (our room) doesn’t always have the best lighting conditions.
The first step in my new method involves getting as much ambient light as possible, so as to obtain spectacular highlights, and then photographing the model; the second step is re-photographing the model without moving anything, but popping up the flash. I try to make sure that all flat areas are not pointing directly at the camera, so as to create as few spectacular highlights as possible.
After I’ve taken the two pics, I mess with them in PhotoShop until I like the end result.
I don’t know how many I’ll get done tonight, but I’ll try to get at least one good pic up as a teaser.
Do I actually have any readers? I’ve been severely slacking off here (sorry) and was wondering if I should just shut the blog down. I haven’t touched my NXT’s software in forever, too, due to some compiler issues.
Thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated. I’ll probably just end up closing this down and doing stuff only on MindBoards.
